What kind of gift does a woman buy for a male friend’s birthday? There is no romantic interest between them.

We have been friends for a couple years but have gotten to know each other a lot better over the last 6 months or so. He’s happily married and I get along well with his wife too. There’s never been any inclination of romance between us; we just get along great and enjoy each other’s company. His wife is having a birthday party for him and I’m invited but I’m kind of unsure what type of gift would be okay to get him. I definitely don’t want to get him something that might send the wrong signal to either him or his wife but I also don’t want to get him something corny either. I’m looking for something classy but not too expensive.

get him a remote control car I’m forty an would think such a gift would be great!
What ever his hobby or interest is…give something in that area…a safe idea…since you have met his wife….call her and ask her of something he may like….she would appreciate her inclusion in the gift thought and it would stop any suspicions you may think she has or will have of your gift…
How about movie gift certificates, enough for two people to go to a movie and get popcorn.
